my ass is a summit.
What's wrong with the word "meeting" ?
Why does everything have to be a 'summit' these days? Even if its just a handful of people?

The need to make things sound more grandiose than they are bothers me.

.. and don't get me started on the absurdity of 'mini-summit'.

I don't think the number of people has anything to do with it. When Reagan and Gorbatchev has met, it was a summit as well, with just 2 people.

A meeting carries a specific business subtext these days. You'd need to dillute it with "group meeting", "hacking meeting", "bar meeting", etc.

You know that I'm attending the OpenOffice Team Summit currently?

You we call that summit while it is just a meeting.
